On top of that, our key metrics are kind of a mess—thanks to privacy changes and spam bots, open and click rates are less trustworthy than ever. It means you have to be strategic from day one; a half-hearted effort just won't cut it anymore.

But here’s why I’m still bullish: email remains the last truly owned digital channel. It’s your direct line to the people who choose to hear from you, without a social media algorithm deciding if they get to see your stuff. That relationship is pure gold for building habit and, most importantly, for making money. Whether it's through paid subscriptions, smart ads, or selling your own products, your email list is the most reliable and versatile revenue engine out there.
